No, the valve body and the governor controls are hydrolic

A good transmission shop shoud be able to fix it with out pulling the trans out. The governor is in the overdrive section and the valvebody can easily be fixed.

Do a search for Dave Goerend transmissions here and give him a call for an honest answer. Once my tranny bites it, I will buy from him for that very reason not to mention he has a good rep for building a strong tranny at a reasonable price.

The governor solenoid is in the valve body - all you have to do is pull the pan and you can get to it. It would only take you an hour tops including changing the filter and topping up the fluid.

Hoser do you know what needs to be done to the valve body?is this somthing that can be done by a good back yard mechanic? You see I have a transmission shop Phobia,it seems every time I go to one they all seem to say the same thing, you need a new trany.
