2wd to 4wd

I'm sure there's some great info on the site about this, but I've searched for about an hour now and haven't found it. I' have a '97 2wd and I'm thinking about making it a 4wd. Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction here. Cost and a few tips would be great. I plan on doing it myself, hopefully

I think you might be money ahead to sell your ride and buy a 4x4. It will certainly be easier.

It would be easiest to put leaf springs under the front instead of coils. You will need shackles, spring hangers, springs, u-bolts, 4x4 tranny and transfer case, driveshafts and make sure you get a front end with the same gear ratio as you rear or you will have trouble. As much money as it will cost unless you already have a front D60 you prob would be better off getting another truck.

I've read of a couple of people who did the conversion.
Both said they wished they had just bought a 4wd instead.
Cost more, lots of work and problems ahead they didn't think of.

Hey thanks guys. I love my truck and it's paid for, so I guess I'll just wait a while unless I find a great used 4x4 12v.
