2500 gas bell housing same as diesel?
Are the bell housing (1995) the same between a 5.9 gas tranny and the 5.9 cummins tranny? (would a gas tranny bolt up to a 5.9 or 3.9 cummins?) If so how different are the internals?
Any info would be great,
Thanks, Tim.

W/the starter there is an issue too...the CTD starter has 3 bolts to mount it, a gasser starter only uses 2.
The 42-series trans I've only seen in a Dakota that I had ('97). & my '97 1500 w/318 has a 46RE if I remember right. I would hate to see a 42 in even a V6 Ram...

The gasoline-engine starters are mounted low, below the crank center-line to clear the driver's-side cylinder-bank - Diesel starter is mounted just above the centerline - pattern is not same, even in the V10 - 47\48RE internals are essentially identical for V10\Cummins - 46R internals can be upgraded to 47\48 internals - '88-92 trans used same bolt-pattern and starter mounting location as gassers (patooie!), but had no TCC
