241dld TC to a 241DHD TC
#2
The input shaft and bearing that I know of. The auto tranny is a 23 spline and the manual is a 29 spline. You can change the input gear between the two but you have to change the bearing also. If you put a DHD gear with a DLD bearing you will get a loud grinding noise. Ask me how I know.

my 01' has the dhd in it so I took it out of it being a 6 speed and mounted it behind my 95' being a 5 speed. Two problems. the speedo gear and the slip yoke from my 01' had to be used bc the 01 HD is about an inch longer. So the only real problem is the speedo gear the tailshaft housing has a indent in it for it but don't know if its a knockout or not. so is it and if it is haw do you get the housing off?

Should only be 4 bolts on the housing then it comes off. After 98 dodge quit using the speedo gear in the transfer case and uses the sensor in the dif ball. On my 96 tailshaft the speedo gear in held on the shaft with snap rings. If the shaft on the 01 has the same splines i think you could put the gear on the 01 shaft. Why did you change the transfer case by the way.

See if this link helps. You sould be able to remove the snap ring but be careful it will over strech easily. then remove the bolts in the other cover and pry it off.
