215 Pump
Is the only difference between my 180 hp and a 215 hp motor is the injection pump, if it is what would the cost be to get my pump up graded to a 215 and is it something a backyard mechanic can install in his garage, or do I need special tools?
I already have a #10 plate to go in>
Thanks Trickytrae

Trickytrae:

As I understand it, the 215 pump has a different cam and
also different barrels and plungers than the 160 and 180
pumps. However, there are shops that can take a 160 or
180 pump and really make them perform. Scheid Diesel
and Piers Diesel are two that I know can do it. The costs
of modifying a 160 or 180 pump are almost as high as
buying a 215 pump. FYI, J.P. at Scheid Diesel can give
you more information on this if you want to call him.
His toll free phone number is: 1-800-669-1593.

--------
John_P

Re:215 Pump
Unless you are power-crazy, you can get away with not upgrading pumps... With a correctly-tuned setup including a new fuel plate, some 215 injectors, new delivery valves and a GSK... You will forget all about that 180hp rating. I just don't think there is justification to having your 180 pump upgraded... Plenty of people have made plenty of power with a 180 pump.
