2 gear grind
Once in a while I get a little grinding when put it into 2 gear on my 94 CTD 5 speed. I am putting in a new clutch next week so I figure I will have my tranny guy give my tranny a once over. What are some of the common issues on a 94 5 speed tranny that I should have checked?? Thanks....

If it doesn't already have one use an aftermarket pilot bearing. SB makes a kevlar one. Quad 4x4 sell a couple of different ball bearing one. Any option will require machining the flywheel. Should be less then $100 for the work.
I made the mistake of not going that route the first three time I had my trans out for clutch issues. I also was concerned about my syncro's bitting the dust but wow what a difference when the trans completly disconnects. The bearing that came with my new clutch was such a pile that the cage that holds the neddles in ground on the shaft (which was already marred from the first one). All is well now and same input shaft.
