is this a 1st gen or 2nd gen motor?
i'm not sure how the cummins engine plant followed along the lines of production with the Ram and their industrial line, but i found a motor locally for a decent price, couldn't find too much info on it though..
turbo is included...and he mentioned it's perhaps a rotary pump?
Date of Manufacture: 6/14/94
Engine Serial No.: 48205654
CPL No.: 856
let me know if anyone has any info..

They stopped building first gens early in 93 ,the engine he asked about was built in june of 1994, there is no possible way it came out of a 1st gen truck.

My truck was built in 9/93 it has the p7100 pump. It is classed as a 94 second gen. It is on the first run of the 2nd gens. It would be hard to say that the engine you have is a first gen. But the fact is that yours was built 6/94 it is most likley a second gen. of course that depends on the style of pump you have. But having said all of that who knows, I would like to know how this turns out.

I case you guys don't realize it, the CPL table for the 6B's takes up almost 3 pages in the book, there's quite a few different versions and setups, although most of them are similar the major difference being pump settings. There's at least 4 different pumps they came equiped with, the rotary Bosch VE, rotary Lucas CAV, inline Bosch P, and inline Nippondenso EP-9.

Some people don't realize how many different configurations and applications the 6BT had I guess.

That's why i asked i was wondering what similarities it might have....
shortblock the same?
head the same?
turbo the same as a dodge truck? etc...
i'm wondering if it's worth the $600 it's listed for..
thanks guys..

If it runs it is DEFINELTY worth 600$
The engine should be very similar , especially in the long block , it may have an air compressor instead of PS and Vaccum pumps, and the head may be different where the fuel filter mounts, hard to tell that without looking at it.
