Does anyone have a picture of the location of the solenoids on the fender. I can't find mine. You guys did say that both wires running to the grid are positive correct? If not let me know because I have one that is dead!

They are located below the rear corner of the drivers side battery. The small hot leads are green/black stripe. One solenoid has a yellow/black stripe, the other an orange/black stripe for the ground side. With the key on, if you ground the small terminals (or/blk and yl/blk) you should hear the coil close. At that time you should get continuity across the two large terminals. They all have heavy gauge black wires hooked to them. One end from the battery, the other to the grids. Does that help?

Infidel, I dont know if they worked when I bought it 3 weeks ago. It could be why the original owner traded it in on an 07. I have a sneeking suspicion that 1 died long ago, then the last one before it was traded in. Thats my theory at least, and Im sticking with it.

Jester, thanks, but I cant really make heads or tails out of that diagram, perhaps when I get my FSM this week it will become more clear. If I read it right, the 12V to engage the relays comes from fuse 9? At least thats the only black wire with a green stripe I see there.

Also, thanks to Games, thats the information I was looking for, so now I shall go out and try the 12V at the Black/Greens and try grounding the Black/Orange and Blacl/Yellows to see if engages 12V to the grids!

Hayseed, no problem man, let us know what you find, I always say a couple hundred heads are better at finding the problem than 1!

I replaced my solenoids with ford ones and could not get them to turn off no matter what i did.they are the ones with 2 small terminals too.I think my problem lies not in the solenoids but maybe something else.No matter though I wired them up to a switch and they work good.I hardly ever need them as i plug the truck in all the time anyways.

Kelo, are you sure the Furd relays you got arent self grounding?

Since your PCM drags them to ground, if the relays you got are grounded, they never would shut off.

You have to specify a Ford relay with a non-grounded case or else mount them so the case doesn't touch ground.

Probably a good thing. The diagram I posted doesn't have anything to do with the grid heaters. Apparently I posted the incorrect diagram. It is time for me to go sit in a corner now .
