First, make sure your fuel shutoff lever is fully in the up position.

Ok, next test will be to have a quart or so of cold water with you, and when it starts messing up, dump the cold water on the P7100 Injection pump and see if it settles down.

They did have some issues with 1994 and 1995 pumps where the barrels weren't right.

It is currently running, right?

K, in the future, use the black priming button on the lift pump to establish prime, much easier than changing starters ( cheaper too ).

Just a FYI, rebuilds on the starters usually are a crap shoot, I go to NAPA and get their brand new starters, good luck so far.

Whats the verdict, Ken2040?

Patdaly, tell us more about the problems with 94 +95 pumps.

Don't want to hijack, just want to keep the discussion going, I am interested in this problem.

My info comes from the oldsters here, Infidel principally, I wasn't around when they were more of a problem.

Evidently for the 94 and 95 model years, there were some out of round problems with the P7100 pumps.

I think I have seen it probably 2 or 3 times in my almost decade here.

When hot some of the P7100 pistons will warp, not all of them. It is a problem with the OEM units. Putting cold water on the pump brings the temp down and the problem eases up as the pistons cool.

Dont get frustrated over not being able to figure out a problem on the simplest motor in the world. simple it may be but the p7100 is a bit more complex than the motor itself so if the problem does lie there it may not actually be so easy. and p pumps arent something you throw at a problem. theyre kinda pricey even for the dinosaur they are. You said it kept running after you turned off the key....about how long did it keep running and was it spit n sputtering? from what you describe it sounds like there is a good chance youll be buying a new pump

Hello
It kept running for probally 30 sec to a minute there was no throttle responce..... i dont remember if it was spitting and sputtering..dont think it was.
I have it at a shop now there doing test just like i did. I still think its a pump airlock ... its a new motor thats doing this now.. if the core charge wasent 2200i would keep it and tear the old motor down
