12v verses 24v

HEY WHATS GOING ON HERE? I DRIVE MY 96 2500 4X4 AT 75MPH AND I AM AROUND 2300RPM. TODAY I DRIVE MY UNCLES 2001 3500 AND AT 75MPH I AM AROUND 1700 RPM. IS THE GEARING THAT MUCH DIFFERENT?

Sounds like 4:10 vs 3:55 ratio.

that sounds like bigger tires and/or overdrive unit. mine with 3:54s run 2000rpms @ ~69mph with 245/75 tires. dad's old 94 auto 2wd that had 4:10's ran just over 2100rpms at 70mph.

nope, the 4:10 is available in both auto and manual. where you're probably getting confused is the limited slip which wasn't available with the 3:54/3:55 gears; however, it could actually be ordered if you checked off both boxes.

man, 1700rpms at 75mph must have tall tires or an overdrive unit. how does that thing even move in OD without fueling enhancements?

yeah, i guess it wasn't listed as available, but you could check off limited slip and 3:54 and it would go through?--something like that before. i have 3:54's, but no limited slip....really wish i did!

Got the 4.10's and LS behind my auto......

I turn 2K RPM at ~72 MPH. Then again, I am running a 37" tire.....

Is there really that much benefit to having the LSD? I have the 3.54 but no LSD. I was told I couldn't get one.

LSD's make a significant difference especially on ice and snow when i added mine it improved my drivability to the point hat i ussually drove around in 2xd with the hubs locked and had alot less problems with spinning out.

Or you can look at my picture files and see what a difference they make
