Im looking into building a 12v motor then droping it into a a newer gas 2500 (like a 2000). The reason Im considering this is because I want 4 doors and a short bed and a 12v. I know they are out there but I'd like to build my own. has anyone done this swap before...links maybe. what would I need?

 

Sounds like it could be done. You'd probably want beefier front-end parts and higher spring rate springs to handle the weight of the diesel without premature failure. If you're going to buy the truck, might as well look for a diesel that has a burnt engine or something. Probably easier (and cheaper) to just go that route.
