12v mileage question

12v mileage question

my 1995 4x4 auto is only getting about 16-7 miles per gallon ... i have a new air filter , a new over flow valve in , filter fuel only has 4000 miles on it . checked wheel bearing and brakes , all good ... any ideas were i should look to found my problem ??????????, tomorrow i am going to check for boost leaks . and recheck my fuel pressure .

Check and adjust the timing. 16 is about what I'm getting this time of year. This winter fuel sucks!

i would lovee to do that .. but don't have the tools for it , and have never read upon how to .

Me too...but all I do is around town, stopping and going all the time. If I can get out on the highway and just cruise all day it'll go up to around 20 +/-.

Every 12 valve should have the timing checked and adjusted to 15-16°.
Almost all slip over time in the bad direction, retarded.
Even if you have to pay someone $200 to do it it will pay back fast in increased fuel mileage, plus you get increased power.

BTW, both my trucks always average over 20 mph unloaded on the highway.

sweet thanks. i am a mechanic . so i have no problem buying the tools . then u i can check it whenever i want to.
