12v Kdp

Yep, no other way to know for sure unless it was pinned. That you can see from the outside. The timing gear cover has to come off. Do a search on KDP, Dowel Pin, etc. You will find tons of info. Search on google also. I ran accross a website with some pics once.
Not that big of a deal to do. Just takes time and about $50.00 worth of parts. The tab can be home made. You will find specs when you do a search. The crank seal is the hardest part. If you put it in backwards while the cover is off, it seems easier.
One thing for sure is to get it fixed. Also re-tourque any of the bolts behind the cover while you have it off. I have heard of one guy having a bolt come out into the gears after he had the pin tabbed. Bummer! It is such a cheap and fairly easy thing to do and the damage is expensive!!!! Good Luck, Kevin

No need to remove the radiator Follow the instructions like you were going to do the tab fix. It's the only way to tell if it's been done unless you wait for the pin to come out and cream your engine. Have a tab on hand in case you need it.
If you can find the previous owner of the truck they might know if it's been done. You can pretty much assume it hasn't been done unless the pin has come out previously and gear case was replaced by one that won't let the pin escape.

dave, didnt mean to imply that you pestered me. i should have thought my wording out a little more. i meant it in the way that you like to kill that nasty little devil and pretty darn quickly to considering it is one of the coldest days of the year when you did mine. thanks again buddy
