12 valve diesel drivetrain into 2nd gen pickup with gas engine?
Hello, I am unofficially the owner of a second gen now! Its a 1994 4X4 5-speed and has about 253000 miles on it (if odo is right???). Anyway, the drivetrain is still pretty solid, but the rest of the pickup is kind of a heap. I have had a few different ideas: part it out, drive it as is for a while or maybe transplant the drivetrain into something else. It would be cool to have an older Chevy or Ford with a Cummins, but this might just be more work than I feel like doing!
With this in mind, I figured that there are plenty of nice 1994-02 Dodge pickups with a V-10 or 360. Would this be an easy swap? Is there anything in particular that I will need to consider? Any huge obstacles? I would like to transplant into an ext. cab 4X4 dually.
Thanks for any advice!

I agree with the suggestion as well though. I do love a first gen.

Thats some danged good advice! Seriously, I might swap the NV4500 into the 1992 (I bought it with this in mind as a possibility). I cannot believe how the underhood is much more cluttered than my old 1st gen. Speaking of the 4X4 system, this pickup has had quite a bit of work done to the frontend. The CAD system was messed up and it took several costly repairs to find out what the problem was.
I have also entertained the idea of putting the drivetrain into a 1st gen Dodge. I can see that the motor mounts are different, but I suppose that a swap can be accomplished with some parts from a gen 1 donor pickup.
