Re:#11 plate on 97' puppy 7000' altitude.getting high temps /smoke what to do?

Is the plate in the stock position? I ran a #11 for quite some time and until I slid it all the way forward it was a great plate. Towing I did have to watch the EGTs and it smoked but nothing like I do now. How much boost is it making at full throttle??? Also does it still have the cat??? I all the sudden noticed my EGTs where up 150 deg and when I took the Cat off it was all but clogged except about 1 1/2" in the center.

A Scotty Air 2 will make the EGTs stay in check better even at 7000 feet.

Re:#11 plate on 97' puppy 7000' altitude.getting high temps /smoke what to do?

I have a 96 with a #11, 3kGSK and gutted cat. My temps get up there pretty quick and max boost is about the same as yours. I usually drive between 5000 and 7500 feet. At these elevations, atmospheric pressure is lower than at sea level, and your turbo has to work harder (higher pressure ratio) to ge the same amount of air into the engine. One consequence of the extra work is extra heat in the intake charge. A new air intake, like the AFE or Scotty II would help lower EGTs by getting rid of most of the restriction in the air filter, and therefore making your turbo not work as hard.
Mark
Along with the other airflow mods listed above you might also consider a full lenght 4" exhaust and a 16cm turbine housing to help keep the temps down.

Get rid of the cat. ANd your boost seem to low. I recall having 32-34 PSI with the #11 in the stock position. Now I'm not at 7000 feet but between 5500 - 6000. It your boost elbow adjustable? If so turn the allen screw in a 1/4 turn at a time until your max boost is at least 30PSI.

BTW I'm Dee not Scott.....
