Wink 96 Ram 2500 new TPS & engine heater

I just ordered a new TPS for the engine (Cummins 12 valve 530,000kms) Been getting an error code for quite some time. I am looking for the settings for it.
The second thing I ordered is the heater for the air intake. Doesn't like to start in the cold. It looks as if the plate can come off without removing the injector lines. Is this the case? or do I need to remove them? Any information on either of these would be greatly appreciated. Thank you & have a Merry Christmas

TPS adjustment> http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmissio...TPS_adjust.htm

Have you checked the grids out carefully, it's very rare for them to fail.
Most often the problem is the relays.

Tps

Thanks for the info. I had the tranny fixed last year & I know the guy that did it. It had the error code plus the tranny still shifts a little weird sometimes. As an electrician I know the TPS is basically a rheostat. It can after this kind of mileage (wear) have a "flat' spot. This replacement part was paid for a job a did. So I don't really have anything to loose. I just paid $1000 to have the posi rear end rebuilt. I now don't get stuck with the first snowflake. So if I get the new engine intake heater working & it starts then I can drive it with it shifting ok. I'l lbe happy as the engine purrs with this kind of mileage.

infidel was refering to the intake heater rarely failing. IMHO a block heater works much better than an intake heater. is that working on your truck?

Hi ya Infidel! Infidel is telling you right. Check the relays first, before throwing money at it!

Also, have you tried drilling and cleaning your TPS before buying a new one?

Thanks, where is the relay you guys are talking about? As far as the intake heater goes last night it went down to 20 F. Winter is just staring here. Plugging it in isn't the option I want. Power here is premium as fuel is too. Diesel is currently $4.50 a gallon. Electrical elements wear over time, as in electric stove elements. They work could when not worn down. Thanks

The grid heater relays are located almost under the battery.
Just follow the large wires on the intake to them.
No need for expensive dealer relays.
Non-grounded Ford starter relays work just fine and are easily available for about $10.

picked up my TPS & new grid heater. Is there a gasket needed to replace the heater plate? It didn't come with one. It looks as if it can be removed without disturbing the fuel lines. Is this so? Thanks & Happy New Year.
