Bad Fuel

I purchased $27.45 in diesel (approx 12 gallons) at Wawa on 18AUG16 and then drove the truck home. I didn't drive it until yesterday 22AUG16. When I started the truck, it ran very rough like it was missing on one cylinder. It also produced a LOT of grey smoke. We drained the fuel filter and what we got doesn't look good. Thoughts?

So it looks like it might be gasoline. What is the best method to drain the tank?

Easiest since the tank is full is to lift the bed to get access. Fuel module is easy to remove to get access to the tank. Siphon all you can.

That diesel looks waxy!

I've been reading about ways to remove the paraffin from diesel, interesting stuff.

I know this isn't helping you but I hope it does somebody else reading this....ALWAYS get a receipt and keep it when buying fuel. Getting bad fuel is more common than one might think especially if you buy from small stations.

With receipt in hand you can make the station pay the THOUSANDS in repair costs that often accrue due to bad fuel.

He is spot on! Two times it has happened to me. Once in Arkansas and once in Kentucky. Both times the station payed for everything.

Man, that sucks.....

We've had a lot of mixed fuels in this state for some odd reason...

More NJ Gas Stations Pump Jet Fuel

I try to purchase my fuel from the same Quik Chek all the time. This way, I know where to go to with my complaints should something like this happen to me.

For me, it's easier to drop the tank using a floor jack, a piece of 2 x 12 and a couple straps.

I'd siphon as much as I could out of the tank filler neck first with a pump, though.. (disconnect the filler tube and run the hose in there)
